How to Become a Referee
Requirements: (new referees, In-Town Spring 4 v 4 and In-Town Fall Recreation League) Attleboro Youth Soccer conducts an introductory referee clinic for children who are interested in refereeing in-town soccer games. The clinic covers basic information about soccer's laws and AYS variations from those laws, how to deal with players and how to deal with coaches and parents.

4. Recommended by soccer coach
5. Good basic knowledge of game
6. Capable of working with YOUNG children
Travel League Referees:
If you would like to become a soccer Referee for the BAYS traveling league you must be
certified by the United States Soccer Federation. To receive certification you must first
take a 16-hour training sessions Referee Induction Course
which are often held as either weekend courses (Saturday and Sunday) or weekday courses
(usually 3-4 weekday nights). During this course the Rules of the Game are lectured upon
and this may include some practical demonstrations or the use of aids such as videos or
slides.

At the end of the course the candidate shall undergo a theory examination on the material
lectured upon. A score of 75% or more is considered a pass and this enables the candidate
to join a branch and participate in active on-field refereeing.
