ATTLEBORO YOUTH SOCCER
Volunteer Opportunities
Attleboro Youth Soccer is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. Over the past few years, registration in the Fall Recreational Program has increased dramatically and this year, we are also adding an in-town Spring program for children under ten. In addition, the current competitive travel program has more than 250 players that participate in the BAYS league. The league runs the annual Ice Kickers Tournament in November, last years Ice Kickers tournament included over 90 teams for all over New England. The tournament was a great success which generated a significant amount of income for the league which enables the league to keep fees low for all programs. With all of this growth, we need your help. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities ranging from donating a couple of hours once or twice a year, to managing a specific task. Please take the time to read through the list and see how you can help.
Attleboro Youth Soccer and US Youth Soccer Kidsafe Program is a program to foster safe circumstances for every person, and especially every child, who participates in a US Youth Soccer affiliated activity. All coaches, volunteers and administrators should read this guide. Volunteers, coaches, and administrators are required to provide a background disclosure KidSafe Form to AYS and MYSA. |

Coaches: |
Coaches, assistants coaches and team managers are always needed for all levels. AYS will reimburse coaches who are interested in participating in any of the MYSA soccer coaching classes offered throughout the year. These programs are designed to provide proper training for all individuals who coach youth soccer. Four coaching courses are offered throughout the state and are designed to provide instructional guidelines and tips for all levels of coaches from the novice (4 hour "G" course) to the advanced coach (36 hour "D" course). |
| Mass Mailings: | Each year the league does a few mass mailings for registrations and in an effort to keep people informed. There are more than 1000 players registered and people are needed to fold and staple mailings. Four or five people can complete this task in an hour or two. |
| Mail Clerk: | AYS has a Post Office Box at the Post Office on Pleasant Street and also uses the Post Offices Non-Profit mailing for all mass mailings. One or two individuals are needed to be responsible for delivering the mass mailings to the post office and completing the one page form. This area of the post office is only open from 10AM to 4PM Monday to Friday so this volunteer would need to be available during those times. |
| Concession Stand: | AYS operates the concession stand on Sundays during the Fall Rec Season. Ideally, three to four people are needed per hour to run the stand efficiently. You may volunteer as little or as often as you want, but please consider giving up at least one hour during the fall to help out at the concession stand. |
| Field Preparation: | The fields need to be lined weekly during the season and the nets need to be checked. This is usually done on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. |
| Telephone Calls: | We would like to establish a group to make telephone calls. Each person will be asked to call a few others regarding changes due to weather, competitive league tryouts, up-coming events and other information as the need arises. |
| Registration: | Five to six times a year the league holds walk-in registrations that last for two to three hours. Lets us know if you could help out one weekend morning or afternoon. |
| Referee Coordinators: | If you are interested in helping with the referee scheduling for either recreational or travel games, we can use your help. |
| Fund Raising: | AYS does a number of things throughout the year to generate income to keep fees low. These include selling AYS sweat shirts, t-shirts and hats; operating the concession stand; and volunteering to work the booth at Foxboro Stadium. We would be interested in hearing from you about any other ideas you may have. |
| Ice Kickers Tournament: | As previously mentioned the league conducts a week-end tournament during November. Many volunteers are needed to help make this an enjoyable event for all. Prior to the tournament, people are needed to help with registration, coordinating referees and ordering the tournament T-shirts. The two days before the tournament, people are needed to help move the nets, line the fields, and set up the registration/check in area. During the two days, people are needed to sit at the registration table to answer question for participants, work the concession stand area and take pictures. |
